Article: A's notebook: Eveland headed back out after shaky start

BOSTON -- Dana Eveland had been showing improved command of all his pitches since being sent to the minors in early May.

That command deserted him in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox, Eveland's second rocky experience in two career outings at Fenway Park.

Last August, he allowed nine runs in just two innings against the Sox at Fenway. He was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start Tuesday in place of Dallas Braden, on bereavement leave to be with his grandmother, who recently suffered a stroke.

Eveland allowed two runs in the second and two more in the third. He was pulled with two outs, the Red Sox leading 4-1.
