Western Pennsylvania is full of history, particularly from the
18th century, when the British forces clashed with Americans, and
with the French and Indians. If you're a history buff and have a
like-minded companion, you can take a beautiful road trip into the
Westmoreland County countryside, and visit two such historical sites
in a single day. In between these two visits, you can explore an
adorable town square in Ligonier and enjoy shopping and food.
Ligonier is about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Plan on about
an hour of driving time, depending on where you live.
