Manfred Blumenthal, 87, a retired circulation employee for The
Washington Post who had also worked at the old Washington Times-
Herald, died of congestive heart failure June 30 at his home in
Laguna Woods, Calif.
Mr. Blumenthal worked for the newspapers for 41 years, usually
starting at 3 a.m. to get them delivered on time to subscribers,
streetside vending boxes and retail stores.
"Manny was a legend in D.C. street sales circulation," said
Donald E. Graham, Washington Post Co. chief executive and board
chairman. "In a challenging business, he was one of the best."
He was born in a small town near Frankfurt, Germany, where his
Jewish family had settled after leaving Spain in 1492. He fled ...
