Brazil's industrial production up 1.3 percent in May

RIO DE JANEIRO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's industrial production registered a 1.3 percent increase in May compared with the figure in April, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced on Thursday.

It was the fifth consecutive increase in the industrial production. In 2009, Brazil's industrial production accumulated a 7.8 percent increase, which indicates that the country's industrial sector is recovering steadily from the current international financial crisis.
