Eurozone retail trade volume falls 0.4 percent in May

BRUSSELS, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The eurozone's retail trade volume fell by 0.4 percent in May 2009 compared to the previous month, Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union (EU), said on Friday.

For the 27-member EU, retail trade dropped by 0.5 percent in May 2009 compared to the previous month.

The EU and eurozone saw 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent growth in retial trade in April.

In May 2009, the food, drinks and tobacco sector posted an increase of 0.2 percent in the eurozone but witnessed a fall of 0.1 percent in the EU. Retail ...
