Article: Kids turn to YouTube over play areas littered with broken glass

A GROUP of children are demanding a huge clean-up after they found that more than 60% of play areas they inspected were littered with broken glass.

Members of the Lower Shankill Residents' Voice group in Belfast have been monitoring the long-running problem of broken glass in their community and are today calling for action to be taken.

They have released a report and YouTube video which highlight the dangers glass poses to young people wanting to play in the available open spaces.

Their report calls on Belfast City Council and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to address this as a matter of urgency and implement a weekly cleaning system.
