A piece of West Virginia soared into orbit during space shuttle
Atlantis' most recent flight.
In fact, the work done in this state was critical to the success
of NASA's final mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
The unsung hero of the mission looks a bit like a hotel baggage
cart - but with supermodern components and the strength of Atlas.
It's called a Super Lightweight Interchangeable Carrier.
It was built at FMW Composite Systems Inc. The Bridgeport company
worked closely with the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced
Flexible Manufacturing and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in
Greenbelt, Md.
