Article: Veterans adjust to campus life at WVU

MORGANTOWN - A certain cluster of incoming freshmen at West Virginia University might be expected to have a heightened sense of awareness about ordinary classroom surroundings in, say, Woodburn Hall.

These brand-new students would turn their gaze to possible exit routes and carefully assess who else occupies the room.

They are men and women just back from stressful and dangerous service in the cities of Iraq and mountains of Afghanistan.

It's Terry's Miller's job to help them adjust to campus life in Morgantown.

Miller, 47, holds the relatively new position of Veterans Advocate at WVU. He works in an office on the second floor of the Mountainlair.
