Profile: Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono

JAKARTA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono succeeded in renewing his term of office at the Presidential election on Wednesday, according to the sample- based quick count result.

Yudhoyono was born in 1949 in Pacitan, East Java, Indonesia, in a lower-middle class family. He graduated from Indonesia Armed Forces Academy in 1973 and became the chief of Sriwijaya Military Command in 1996.

Yudhoyono was appointed as Mines and Energy Minister in the cabinet of President Abdurrahman Wahid in 1999 and the Coordinating Minister for Politic and Security Affairs in August 2000. In 2001, he was dismissed ...
