Leased office areas in Christchurch include intimate but
functional boutique spaces as well as the wide-open floor plans of
large corporates.
In recessionary times, property analysts are predicting a 3-9 per
cent fall in the value of commercial real estate assets this year,
meaning office rental costs should go down.
Despite that environment, Scott Mitchell, general manager of
commodity exporter Gardner Smith NZ, along with his eight-member
team, have taken a different tack.
About four weeks ago they moved from the Guthrey Centre, which
they occupied for 18 years, to a more expensive office rental on the
ninth floor of Forsyth Barr House, corner of Colombo and Armagh sts.
