Article: Fireflies unfortunately fading from view

I like to sit on my back porch in Scott Depot on July evenings and watch the fireflies.

But over the last 10 years, there simply don't seem to be as many of them as there used to be.

I thought it was my imagination; but apparently fireflies are disappearing from marshes, fields and forests all over the country - and all over the world.

And if it goes on this way, fireflies may fade forever, leaving our summer nights a little darker.

I started reviewing some of the Internet sources on the issue, and while nobody knows for sure, some researchers blame development and light pollution.
