AMBITION, power struggles, tyranny and revenge - no it's not an
excerpt from this week in Parliament. It can only mean the 2009 Bard
in the Botanics season has returned.
Glasgow's annual outdoor Shakespeare Festival sees three plays
performed this year which share a common theme - the search for
power and domination.
Shakespeare fans can wallow in the delights of The Taming of the
Shrew, a new production of Macbeth - which marks Jennifer Dick's
directorial debut at the event - and a "threehander" version of
Richard III, directed by Gordon Barr, which will be performed in the
magnificent setting of the Kibble Palace.
