Alfa Romeo, a Reichel-Pugh 100-foot maxi owned Neville Crichton, set an elapsed time record for monohulls in the Transpacific Yacht Race by making the 2,225-nautical mile crossing in 5 days, 14 hours, 36 minutes and 20 seconds.

Crichton and his 16-man crew took more than a day off the previous course record of 6 days, 16 hours, 4 minutes and 11 seconds, which was set by Hasso Plattner's Morning Glory in 2005. Alfa Romeo II crossed the finish line at 00:36:20 a.m. Hawaiian Standard Time on Saturday.
