DAYTON -- Chaminade Julienne High School's goodwill ambassadors
returned home June 20 -- safe and sound but mostly saddened by the
conditions they found in a poverty-stricken area of southern Belize.
The 15 students and three adults endured a body-jarring, four-
hour van ride over rough terrain from the airport to get to their
destination but were greeted by happy, smiling villagers.
"That was the highlight of the trip for me," said 2009 CJ grad
Grace Pera of Dayton. "They were a gracious people who knew we were
there to help."
CJ counselor Susan Eichenauer of Vandalia, who along with Dr.
Steve Huffman of Tipp City and CJ religious teacher Mickey Mominee,
helped organize the eyeopening ...
