TO MISQUOTE a semi-familiar song, "Like Guido says, it's getting
HOT in here!" Yes folks, the heat that we have yet to fully
experience in summer 2009 has arrived. And what produce prize pumps
out the volume when the temps rise? Summer squash!
Just so we all know what is what "... summer squash being the
zucchini, crookneck and others that we eat small and thin skinned.
The flip side of squash is the hard or winter squash that is larger,
thick skinned and something we usually don't bake in the oven when
the sidewalks sizzle. That kind.
The most common is the long, green skinned zucchini. Some are
darker green, almost black and others are speckled and ribbed. Again
different varieties but ...
