Linda Gaffey of Arlington watched countless Boston Red Sox
games on television while undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer
six summers ago. Even when the team lost in the postseason, she was
comforted in knowing that she would be healthy enough to enjoy more
games the following year.
Last Saturday, Gaffey joined the team on the field as part of
Pan-Massachusetts Challenge Night at Fenway Park. She was among
30 cancer survivors - all of whom are participating in the PMC -
who rode their bikes around the warning track in the pre-game
ceremony. Other local participants included Glenn Gallo of Belmont;
