Article: In '69, Cohasset home a-Buzz over landing ; Family had ties to Aldrin and his wife, who lived in Scituate

COHASSET - When the Eagle touched down on the Moon, members of one family in Cohasset had a personal reason to cheer. They were friends with Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, the second man to walk on the lunar surface.

Aldrin and his then-wife, Joan, knew the late Jerome Tosi and his wife, Debbie, in the early 1960s when the Aldrins lived in Scituate while Aldrin, then an Air Force colonel, was getting a doctorate degree at MIT. Joan Aldrin and Debbie had grown up in the same New Jersey town.

"It was an amazing thing to watch, and know the person doing it," said Debbie, who is now Debbie Rogers and lives in Hingham.
