TO THE RESCUE - The quick development of a website and Twitter
account resulted in thousands of dollars in donations to help Avon
native Paula Persechini-Pettiti. Friends and family used the money
to fly her back to Mass General Hospital July 11, after a car
accident June 23 left her in a coma in South Dakota, where she was
working at a medical clinic on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Persechini-Pettiti is the founder of The Black River Project, a
nonprofit dedicated to collecting and disseminating medical
supplies, training, and other support services to underserved
