Footlong subs may replace Quarter Pounders as the main food
choice at the state's highway rest stops.
The state Department of Transportation is negotiating a contract
to operate 23 service plazas with Doctor's Associates, the corporate
parent of Subway restaurants that is based in Milford.
Paul Landino, president of SubCon Inc., a company that handles
development for Subway, confirmed that the company is negotiating
with the DOT, "but I must emphasize we're still in discussion and it
hasn't been confirmed yet."
Landino said that if the negotiations succeed, Subway would turn
the restaurants into more of a food court with tourism information
available.
