Article: Holbrook man is charged with murder

WEYMOUTH

A judge ordered a 45-year-old Holbrook man held without bail after police said he killed a homeless man with a deer-skinning knife.

Scott T. Steadman is charged with murdering Ronald Pratt, 49, in the tent where Pratt had been living. The tent was in a wooded area off Washington Street called Indian Hill.

Pratt was found Sunday morning, lying on his right side in a large amount of blood, by a homeless couple, Kristen and Robert Fuller, who were living in a tent near his. They hiked from the woods to Christy's Market and called police. He had at least four wounds, including several on his right arm, according to a police report.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at 8:55 a.m.
