Article: OLDE MILL GETTING FACE-LIFT

A $12 million renovation of Olde Mill Resort's highly acclaimed golf course is close to fruition.

The extensive makeover that includes a new wall-to-wall irrigation system and layout changes on several holes is scheduled for completion by early September, general manager Hagen Giles said.

"It's going to be awesome when we're done," Giles said. "We're going to take this place to the level it's always deserved."

The Carroll County mountain course, located only minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Laurel Fork, was originally designed by Ellis Maples and opened in 1972. Maples' son, Dan, and his grandson, Bradley, have led the enhancement project that began last summer.
