Article: Firms bid for airport duty-free shop deal

FOUR firms are bidding to take over the Pounds 20 million contract to run the duty free shop at Bristol International Airport.

The Evening Post understands four companies - WDF, Aelia, Avonmouth firm Harding Brothers and incumbent The Nuance Group - have bid for the contract which begins on November 1. Nuance has run the shop at the airport, which takes about Pounds 57,000 a day, since 2000.

But the airport revealed in February it would put the contract out for tender, for an initial five-year deal worth at least Pounds 100 million.

Harding Brothers, based in Avonmouth is seen as a front-runner for the deal. It specialises in running duty-free shops on cruise ships for firms including P& O ...
