Bin Laden's son may be dead WASHINGTON - The son of al-Qaeda
leader Osama bin Laden may be dead, but he was not an important
player in the group, a US counterterrorism official said yesterday.
"There are some indications that he may be dead, but it's not 100
per cent certain," the official said on condition of anonymity. "If
he is dead, Saad bin Laden was a small player with a big name. He
has never been a major operational figure."
He is believed to have been killed by an unmanned drone in
Pakistan, but the official would not confirm this. A number of US
broadcast outlets have reported that Saad was not the target in the
Predator strike. - (Reuters/PA)
