Article: Dream machine turns out to be a nightmare in car reliability survey

IT IS one of the most desired cars on the road but also, it has been claimed, the least reliable.

The Audi A5 is named today as the UK's least dependable new model in the country's biggest reliability survey, despite also topping the customer satisfaction ratings.

The coupe's German manufacturer boasts that the A5 is "exceptional in every way", and 97 per cent of owners told Which? Car they were pleased with the car.

However, the consumer group's magazine also said nearly one in four drivers found it was unreliable.

The poor performance contributed to Audi slumping from the average to poor category in this year's brand reliability stakes, at 77.1 per cent.
