Lil Mayernik only had two biological children, but she was a
mother to hundreds of youngsters who attended St. Athanasius School
in West View, her family said.
Lauren Mayernik said her grandmother was the manager and cook at
the school for 13 years.
"My grandmother always welcomed anybody and everybody and cared
for them like they were her own," she said.
Ludmilla "Lil" Smid Mayernik of West View died on Wednesday, July
22, 2009, in Vincentian Regency in McCandless. She was 93.
David Mayernik of Ohio Township, a former state representative in
the North Hills, said his mother fed more than 600 youngsters every
day.
