Plunging waterfalls and shady walks through forest greenery provide plenty of attraction for those hiking the loop route involving Horsetail Falls and Ponytail Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. But a new feature gives this superlative trip an added boost.

Just this spring, the historic Oneonta Tunnel reopened to visitors, offering a welcome alternative to walking the narrow scenic highway on at least a portion of the half-mile section connecting the trails necessary for this 2.5-mile loop.
