TIPP CITY -- It has been a long time since the Tippecanoe
Sleepies took to the field at Freeman Prairie for a game of
baseball.
Those days of the early 1900s won't return, but the spirit of the
game will be revisited when the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers take on the
Kettering Clodbusters in a vintage baseball game Aug. 16.
The game this time will be played west of town, on the front lawn
of The Willowtree Inn, built in the 1880s.
The vintage baseball game is the brainchild of Reed Spencer and
Greg Enslen, members of the Downtown Tipp City Partnership.
Spencer said they came up with the idea more than three years ago
while brainstorming for DTCP projects.
