Germantown -- Cambridge Major Laboratories will dedicate a new
manufacturing plant Thursday that greatly expands its capacity.
The expansion signals that Cambridge Major, a supplier of active
ingredients to the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, intends to
compete aggressively in an area where Asian companies are taking
more market share.
Cambridge Major spent more than $40 million on the facility, said
Michael Major, its president and chief executive officer.
The expansion has already prompted the hiring of 60 employees,
bringing the total to 175, including 110 in Germantown, said Brian
W. Scanlan, chief business officer.
