Alvan M. Crews, 80, a retired colonel in the Air Force and
executive with a local computer firm, died of cancer July 17 at
Georgetown University Hospital Center. He lived in Fort Washington.
A command pilot with more than 900 hours of combat time,
including 225 combat missions in Korea and Vietnam, Col. Crews
served in the Air Force from 1951 until 1979. He then became
executive vice president of Seequa Computer in Odenton until he
retired a second time in 1985.
Alvan Macauley Crews was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Detroit, moved to
Washington as a child and graduated from the Bullis School in Silver
Spring, a preparatory school for the U.S. Naval Academy. Col. Crews
