Like last year, state duck hunters in 2009 will be offered a 60-
day season with a six duck daily bag limit. But unlike 2008, this
season it can include a canvasback and two bluebills.
That's how things shaped up Friday afternoon after biologists
with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service handed down season
frameworks to states in the Mississippi Flyway.
"We've got water and we've got ducks," said Kent Van Horn,
waterfowl biologist for the Department of Natural Resources. "All in
all, it's shaping up to be a good fall for hunters."
Based on good to very good waterfowl breeding populations across
most of North America, federal officials have offered what they term
a "liberal" ...
