Article: Milford edges Branford, advances to state final

BRISTOL -- The Milford American Legion baseball team came within a whisker of a colossal meltdown earlier Thursday. By the end of the day, it was in position to play for its first state championship in eight years.

In its first game, postponed by rain on Wednesday night, Milford blew a three-run lead in the top of the ninth to Waterbury only to come back with three in the bottom of the ninth to win.

Behind a complete game from Chris Folsom, Milford completed its wild day with a workmanlike 2-1 victory over Branford in the winner's bracket final at Muzzy Field.
