FINANCIAL PRESSURES, a lack of work in the recession and a recent
relationship break-up may have caused actor Rob Mokaraka to "snap"
and attempt suicide by cop, his flatmate says.
In a bizarre incident last Monday, well-known and respected stage
actor and scriptwriter Mokaraka, 36, lured police to his home in Pt
Chevalier in Auckland's inner west, with false claims of an armed
and angry man in his neighbourhood.
Police say they received three calls from Mokaraka, in which he
gave a detailed description of a man armed with a hidden gun. Police
claim he then went back to his house and dressed himself in clothing
matching the description he had just given, and when police arrived
