FINANCIAL PRESSURES, a lack of work in the recession and a recent relationship break-up may have caused actor Rob Mokaraka to "snap" and attempt suicide by cop, his flatmate says.

In a bizarre incident last Monday, well-known and respected stage actor and scriptwriter Mokaraka, 36, lured police to his home in Pt Chevalier in Auckland's inner west, with false claims of an armed and angry man in his neighbourhood.
