Aberdeen has its sights on being in the world's top 100
universities. Liz Lightfoot reports on the north's 'rising star'
When it comes to the University of Aberdeen, the population
divides into two camps - those who have visited or checked out its
credentials, and those who have not. To the uninitiated, especially
those who applied to university years ago when Aberdeen was a
fraction of its current size, it is a gargoyle of a building in a
cold, bleak, inaccessible town in the far reaches of Scotland.
