Article: KC U-turn on bills charge ; E YORKS: Telecoms firm scraps planned Pounds 1 fee for paper bills

KINGSTON Communications (KC) has scrapped plans to charge people Pounds 1 to receive traditional paper bills.

As part of a revamp of the Hull telecoms firm's pricing policy, the company is also introducing a free service for people to check accounts over the phone.

The scheme, which will be introduced by KC on September 1, is aimed at encouraging more people to opt to receive paper-free bills.

It is designed to help those who want to go paperless but do not have access to the Internet to check their bills online.

The service comes after plans announced by KC in October last year to charge people Pounds 1 to continue to receive phone bills through the post provoked opposition.
