Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, Aug. 3
MANILA -- Philippine stocks closed 1.31 percent higher on Monday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index rose 36.78 points
to 2,835.11 while the all-share index went up 17.90 points or 1.01
percent to 1,786.06.
The trade volume reached 5.97 billion shares valued 3.75 billion
pesos (78.01 million U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Japanese share prices ended mixed Monday, as some
investors sell for a quick profit while others are buying due to
optimistic corporate earnings report.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 index closed down 4.36 points, or 0.04
percent, to 10,352.47 from Friday's 10-month closing high.
