Article: Urban residents walk against crime

Charleston residents took to the streets Tuesday night to help put an end to crime during the 26th annual National Night Out Against Crime.

Across the U.S. and at U.S. military bases around the world, neighbors came together to give crime "a going-away party," said Lt. Valerie Strege with the Charleston Police Department.

The idea of the event is to get local citizens together to learn how they can organize themselves to fight crime, drugs and safety hazards in their neighborhoods and around their homes.
