Article: Marie Auguste; Haiti native loved cooking, giving parties

Born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, Marie Sainfelia Auguste came to the Boston area in 1973 to join her husband and children. She worked briefly at a chicken packaging factory in South Boston, but became ill and stopped working. She spent the rest of her time at home with her family.

Mrs. Auguste loved baby- sitting for her grandchildren and throwing parties for all sorts of occasions, said her daughter-in- law, Marie Imaculee Thimothe of Stoughton. Mrs. Auguste hosted sleepovers at which she would tell them stories about life in Haiti and teach them her native language, Creole.

Mrs. Auguste, of Brockton, died July 30 due to complications of diabetes and hypertension at Brockton Hospital. ...
