Article: Bank hires risk officer Anchor trying to shore up loans

AnchorBank, which has struggled with the deterioration of its commercial loan portfolio during the economic downturn, said Thursday it has hired a chief risk officer.

Madison-based AnchorBank said that, effective immediately, Martha M. Hayes is chief risk officer. Hayes joined the bank from Merrill Lynch Business Financial Services in Chicago, where she was president and managing director. The bank said that Hayes was recognized for turning around a $250 million revenue line of business while at Merrill Lynch. She previously worked for Wachovia Corp.
