WAMEGO -- Although as a boy Tim Akers knew his great-aunt Patti
Page sang and made records, he didn't appreciate just how famous she
was until one morning when he was watching "Captain Kangaroo.""You
know Captain Kangaroo had those puppets, and they were dancing
around to 'Doggie in the Window,' and I went nuts because my Aunt
Patti was on 'Captain Kangaroo,' " said Akers, who is in his sixth
year as artistic director of the Columbian Theatre, Museum and Art
Center in downtown Wamego.
The Columbian has created an exhibit, "This Is My Song: Patti
Page," drawn from Akers' collection of records, photographs and
other memorabilia and is showing it through Sept. 5 in the center's
first-floor ...
