CHEYENNE - Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power is lobbying its
customers to fight federal "cap-and-trade" legislation.
The electric utility sent letters to customers along with their
monthly bills asking them to contact the Wyoming congressional
delegation and "thank them for protecting you from this hidden tax."
All three members of the delegation are against the proposed
program, which is meant to curb greenhouse gas emissions to combat
climate change.
Cheyenne Light says if passed, the legislation will raise rates
for consumers by 34 percent or more.
"In its current form, it doesn't protect our customers," said
