Business is booming for expanding Hamilton caravan manufacturer Leisure Line.

That's despite the belt- tightening economic climate and the fact this family-owned company operates in an industry sector that would appear to be highly exposed to a downturn in discretionary spending.

Leisure Line is already New Zealand's largest caravan manufacturer, with 25 per cent of the market.

But the company's marketing and development manager, Wayne Bates, expects to nudge that figure towards 35 per cent after its new Southern Star range of models is unveiled at the National Caravan and Motorhome Show in Christchurch in October.
