Roundup: U.S. stocks rally boosts Philippine market sentiment

MANILA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine stocks on Monday mimicked the performance of the U.S. market rally.

The bellwether Philippine Stock Exchange index rallied by 2.42 percent or 67.60 points to close at 2,850.58, while the all share index rose by 2.05 percent or 36.34 points to 1,807.46.

Trading was above average because of the special block sales of local telecommunication company Pilipino Telephone Corp. Some 6.81 billion shares worth 10.23 billion pesos (2.14 billion U.S. dollars) were exchanged.

Foreign investors however were net buyers at 163 million pesos (3.41 billion U.S. dollars).
