Article: City tries to grant new life to old dump Study could aid housing development

The city of West Allis will research whether an old Allis- Chalmers landfill near 116th Street and Morgan Avenue has any contaminants, a necessary step in ongoing efforts by two cities to redevelop the site.

Last week, the West Allis Common Council approved using grant money for a contract with an environmental consulting service company to research the history of the landfill, which is part of West Allis but surrounded by Greenfield on all four sides.
