Merchants aim to pry open consumers' wallets with a back-to-
school campaign they hope parents will jump on: killing germs.
Amid heightened concern about a possible resurgence of the H1N1
virus this fall, retailers are promoting an expanded selection of
sanitizing products to help guard against swine flu.
CVS is featuring displays full of merchandise designed to stop
the spread of germs, including hand wipes, vitamin C supplements,
and pen-spray hand sanitizers.
Bath & Body Works is promoting antibacterial products with huge
signs plastered around its stores that say "Spread Love, Not Germs!"
And Target is offering tissue boxes that kids can color with
crayons.
