Philippine Media Co. ABS-CBN net income up 8 pct in half year

MANILA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., the Philippines' biggest multimedia conglomerate, posted net income of 813 million pesos (about 17 million U.S. dollars) in the first half, up 8 percent on year, company officials reported Wednesday.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, ABS-CBN reported its consolidated revenues in the first six months of the year rose 14 percent on year to 11.7 billion pesos (about 245 million U.S. dollars), thanks to an increase in advertising placements and direct sales.
