Commercial transactions don't exactly evoke images of gorgeous
designs cast in metal, unless the purchases are part of buying the
designs. But in the case of the National Cash Register Co. commerce
and art coalesce beautifully.
The company, which originated in Dayton, Ohio, created beautiful
designs for cash registers in the first years of the 20th century.
Many examples of these fanciful designs can be found in the
Hempfield home of Larry Lytwak, 55, who avidly collects cash
registers.
"I like the Nationals," Lytwak says. "They were the best."
