PAUL STURROCK has hailed the arrival of a striker who could be Plymouth Argyle's second goal-scoring saviour in two seasons.

Sturrock likened former Rangers forward Alan Gow to Paul Gallagher - the on-loan striker whose 13 goals are credited with keeping relegation-haunted Argyle in the Championship last term.

Gallagher, on loan from Blackburn Rovers last season, could play through the middle of the park, but was often pushed out wide left.

Gow, a six foot forward, is said to be just as flexible.
