Vernon G. Liston
"Our Hero"
Vernon Gurnsey Liston, husband, father and grandfather passed
away peacefully at the age of 85 on Aug. 15, 2009 in SLC, UT.
Born on Nov. 28, 1923 in Collinston, UT to Lavon Reeves and Lola
Barney Liston. At the early age of 16 he joined the CCC camp.
Before being drafted in the Army, he enjoyed working on the
railroad in Nevada. Vernon entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was
assigned to the 89th Division and later transferred to the 83rd INF
DIV.
During World War II in Europe as a rifleman and scout, he
defended his country heroically cheating death more than once.
During the campaigns of 1944 he was shot on three different
occasions, in Normandy, Northern France ...
