Fund programs
I agree with the Shawnee County Commission. The county should
transfer funds earmarked for Safe Streets and Keep America Beautiful
to programs for the elderly.
These people are on fixed incomes and have been kicked around by
the Legislature, the Topeka City Council and the city manager.
Enough is enough.
City manager Norton Bonaparte thinks lives could be saved by
using $1 million to purchase a police helicopter but doesn't care
about the lives of the elderly. That doesn't make much sense, but
the city council and administration never make much sense.
Most elderly and disabled citizens are doing everything they can
to stay in their homes and out of the hospital or a nursing ...
