Article: Huey P. Bridge expansion in Louisiana moves to East Bank approaches

Commuters who frequent the Jefferson Highway overpass at Clearview Parkway might want to come up with a new route to work.

Construction crews will demolish the overpass in late September to make way for additional traffic coming from the Huey P. Long Bridge, which is in the middle of a $1.2 billion widening project.

The Jefferson Highway overpass, which crosses the East Bank approach to the bridge, will be replaced with a ground-level roadway. The four-phase demolition will change the traffic configuration around the East Bank foot of the bridge, although officials have not determined what that configuration will be, said Indira Parrales, spokeswoman for the Louisiana Transportation ...
